Our Story

The Beauty of African design. This is what The A. Line seeks to capture and present to the public through design.

Since Picasso, the continuing influence of African art on contemporary design has been widely acknowledged. There are well known designers today who owe a great deal of their inspiration to Africa.

The A. Line, as a company and commercial venture, set up by Africans, seeks to provide a permanent opening for designers inspired by African Art.

Our operations began with the preparation of a repertoire of art items and utility objects from around the continent. These motifs are incorporated in the creation of decorative furniture and utility pieces for everyday use.

Products from The A. Line are:

  • Created with African-inspired motifs.

  • Executed with a high standard of artistic and technical quality.

  • Integrates easily into any style of contemporary interior, be it Japanese, Italian, American.

Successful integration with non-African designs is assured in part by the sobriety and elegance of materials used in The A. Line creations. These give them that unique touch of class.

Iroko, Mahogany and other hard tropical woods are used for furniture pieces. Marquetry are done in ebony. Bronze accessories executed with delicate craftsmanship add to an exquisite sense of artistic finish.

Our creations can thus:

  • Be used for setting up a typical contemporary African-inspired interior where all elements recall an African origin.

  • Blend with designs of diverse origins (e.g. an African center table with a Japanese armchair, an American sofa and French draperies).

  • Be used to give an exotic touch to an otherwise classical setting.

Highly skilled craftsmen, artisans and technicians working in our exclusive workshops, execute our The A. Line designs from the best of available raw materials. We sometimes produce items in small quantities, but objects are also made to measure according to customer specifications.

We also design single items or collections around themes: kitchen hardware, center tables, chairs may all be inspired by an African mask, textile or other utility items.

Coming Soon - We look forward to sharing our new products and additional collections of African-inspired furniture and home accessories with you.
